● Anti-roll protection for wooden cable drums
Cable drum chocks for construction sites, yards and grid projects
Protection against rolling and theft for wooden cable drums up to Ø 2,500 mm – for grid construction, cable laying, civil engineering and depots.
Three ways to stop cable drums from rolling away
A full drum of power cable weighs several tonnes. The right solution depends on how long the drum stands – and where.

Cable drum chock
For construction sites and unloading. Fitted without lifting the drum, lockable with a padlock. Ø 500–2,500 mm.

Wedges and storage blocks
For warehouses and depots. Weather-resistant plastic wedges instead of timber wedges, storage blocks made to measure.

Storage mats
For floor storage indoors and outdoors. Anti-slip, forklift-accessible, with a cradle for round loads.

Selection guide: which drum protection fits?

Why not just timber wedges?
Often too low
Undersized timber wedges are a safety risk. A German accident-insurance report describes 80 × 80 mm timbers under drums 2 m in diameter – far too low.
They rot and go missing
Timber absorbs water and wedges get lost. Plastic and galvanised steel keep their dimensions.
No theft deterrent
A lockable cable drum chock also makes copper cable harder to steal.

Frequently asked questions
Why do cable drums need to be secured?
Full drums of power or medium-voltage cable often weigh several tonnes, and even a slight slope can set them rolling. Employers must assess this hazard and define suitable protective measures under the occupational safety rules that apply in their country.
Which drum sizes are covered?
The cable drum chock comes in two sizes: Ø 500–1,400 mm and Ø 700–2,500 mm. Storage blocks are made to suit the drum diameter.
Can I lock a cable drum?
Ja. Die Cable drum chock is secured with a padlock.
How is the cable drum chock fitted?
Pull the two halves apart, slide them sideways under the flange rims, push them together and lock them with the linchpin. The drum does not need to be lifted – during unloading it stays on the crane chains until the chock is in place.
Can the cable drum chock be used on a slope?
No. According to the instructions for use, the chock is designed for level, load-bearing ground and must not be used on steep slopes. On very soft ground, place outrigger pads underneath.
Can I combine several types of protection?
Yes. The instructions for use permit two chocks on one drum – this does not automatically increase the permissible drum weight. In storage, many companies combine storage mats with wedges or storage blocks.
